Have you done something you’ve regretted and are having a hard time letting it go?
The good news is that we can forgive ourselves! When we break our own standards of behavior and harm another and/or ourselves, we can (gently) hold ourselves accountable for our behavior and, at the same time, let go of self-punishment and negativity to embrace self-compassion and self-love. We can move on in our lives and experience peace.
What Is Self-Forgiveness and How Do We Do It?
Self-forgiveness is similar to forgiving another person, and we use the same phases from the Enright Process Model that we use to forgive another person (uncovering, change of heart, work phase, and outcome/deepening).
It’s a little more complex to forgive yourself; after all, you have to live with yourself whereas when you forgive another person, you can do it from a distance. While facing the pain you caused yourself and/or another isn’t pleasant, we take some extra time in the workshop to address these areas so that you can learn to fully let go of self-negativity and embrace self-love.
